Can paint overspray be removed without damaging the original paint?

Quick answer: Yes, it can be removed without damaging the original paint.  With the right products and technique. We use paint-safe solvents and controlled methods to soften and lift the overspray, then refine the finish if needed. Avoid harsh thinners or scrubbing, which can dull or stain the clearcoat.

If the paint can be removed with a solvent, then generally speaking, no damage is done to the original paint.

Anything beyond that is likely to cause micro-marring, but not much beyond what you would get through regular washing. The average user probably wouldn't even notice, as most cars have wash marks. But we will notice, which is why as part of the process, we will polish the car to remove any fine scratches.

Some modern paints contain resins which are hard to dissolve which may require us to use very harsh solvents, and products like wood-stain (used for fences) can stain the clearcoat which might require some heavy polishing so we remove the very uppermost layer of the clearcoat. But generally speaking, the process of removing most paint contamination does not damage the original paint.
